Muscle strain relief

Heat Therapy

Warmth and heat have been associated for a long time with comfort and also relaxation. On the other hand, heat therapy goes further and can relieve many types of pains, such as lower back pain and muscle strain relief.

Heat therapy for the lower back can be used in various ways, such as heat pads, hot baths, and warm gel packs, etc., which is inexpensive and easy to do.

This article will explain how to apply heat to reduce pain, especially in the lower back area.

How heat therapy works:

Lower back muscle strain usually happens due to strains and over-exertions, creating tension in the muscles and soft tissues around the lower back spine. As result, the circulation in that area will be affected, and body send a pain signal to brain.

Muscle spasm in the lower back can create pain that can be identified from mild to high, and heat therapy and applying heat can be a very effective method to reduce pain.

Applying heat pads can relieve the pain in the lower back through different mechanisms.

  1. Heat therapy dilates the blood vessels of the muscles surrounding the lumbar spine. Applying heat pads can increase the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, helping to heal the damaged tissue, and muscle strain relief.
  2. Heat pad stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, decreasing pain signal transmission to the brain and reducing discomfort.
  3. Also, it will reduce stiffness around soft tissues by stretching them. Compared to other options, heat therapy is inexpensive, and it can be used easily. Heat pads can be applied almost anywhere. Use them at work, home or  almost anywhere with a microwave.

Also, heat therapy is more effective when combined with other treatments such as physical therapy and exercise.

All About Heating Pads and heat therapy for Back Pain & muscle strain relief

Even if it's only temporary, back pain can take a serious toll on your quality of life. It can make it difficult for you to perform everyday tasks and enjoy the things you once loved. While there are many conservative treatments for back pain, one of the most common is heat therapy. Believe it or not, heat therapy has been around since ancient times when the Egyptians and Greeks would use it for pain.

Fortunately, you don't have to spend hours upon hours in the sun for back pain relief through heat therapy. These days, over-the-counter heating pads are available online and in stores. They bring ease and convenience to heat therapy.

Why Heating Pads

The main reason heating pads, they are the best natural pain killer and heat therapy are so effective for back pain is because they increase circulation. When this happens, oxygen and nutrients make their way to the muscles and joints. Not only can better circulation resolve muscle damage, it can also relieve back stiffness and inflammation.

Although any type of heat has the potential to improve back pain, heating pads are likely the most convenient option. In addition to their portability, heating pads are electric, making them ideal for use just anywhere in your home.

While hot baths may ease your back pain as well, they do come with a caveat. It can be a real challenge to maintain the hot water temperature as the water will gradually cool down and lose its effectiveness. Heating pads resolve this problem because they provide heat flow continuously. As long as you keep them on, they can work their magic.

Comment from a long serving customer

"I can tell you this almost for sure and that is, as long as you guys continue making these best ever heating pads I will continue to order them. I am a paraplegic with a lot of nerve pain and spasms that can be unbearable but at least with your heat packs I get some relief. On top of that I have two forms of sleep apnea and must go on a servo ventilator at night so I’m going to try your new sleep set!! Thanks! It’s that old personal touch that you add like my dad had in his drug stores. I didn’t think it was possible but your fast personal replies are giving me reason to believe that the internet doesn’t have to be without the “older” fashioned “ personal approach. Keep up the good work!!

Sincerely, M D. (London Ontario Canada)

Heat Therapy

The sports therapy wrap is the  most effective heat therapy product for muscle strain relief that can maintain it's heat at the proper temperature. "Warm" is the proper temperature. Patients should not have their heat source be hot to the point of burning the skin. The desired effect is for the heat to penetrate down into the muscles. Simply increasing the temperature of the skin will do little to decrease discomfort.

In many instances, the longer the heat is applied, the better. This where the sports therapy wrap will pay dividends with it's long lasting heat. The duration that one needs to apply the heat, though, is based on the type of and/or magnitude of the injury. For very minor back tension, short amounts of heat therapy may be sufficient (such as 15 to 20 minutes). For more intense injuries, longer sessions of heat may be more beneficial (such as 30 minutes to 2 hours, or more).

Heat therapy application can help provide lower back muscle pain relief through several mechanisms:

  • Heat therapy dilates the blood vessels of the muscles surrounding the lumbar spine. This process increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, helping to heal the damaged tissue.
  • Heat stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, which means that applying heat to the lower back will decrease transmissions of pain signals to the brain and partially relieve the discomfort.
